Mountain rustic home with a modern twist boasts glorious views in Idaho

rustic-mountain-style-home-exterior

This rustic modern mountain home was designed by The Jarvis Group Architects, nestled on a beautiful 1.5-acre property in Sun Valley, Idaho. For this beautiful retreat, the owners had a vision for their family home to be warm, inviting and comfortable. They wanted their home to meld into the surroundings and appear as though it had been there for years.

In harmony with nature, this home is clad in weathered gray stone and reclaimed lumber. Outdoor living spaces were designed to maximize the spectacular views, featuring dining, lounging and conversation areas set at varying levels. There is also a hot tub to lavish in, a wonderful spot for evening time stargazing.

Above: When the owners were building this home, the wife surprised her husband with this bronze butterfly joint that was custom fabricated and inset into the flooring at the entrance to their living room. The inspiration was that the husband had stated that a home only qualifies as a mountain home if it is positioned above 6,000 feet in elevation. Their home is set at exactly 6,045 feet!

The designer selected a mainly neutral color palette in the interior furnishings and finishes, with the occasional pop of color. Expansive windows capture mesmerizing mountain scenery in practically every room, including the shower!
