Tips for a Cozy Christmas Mantel
- Start with garland. Drape faux garland or pre-lit garland along the mantel first. Layering two garlands together, or tucking in fresh pine, makes it look full and lush.
- Hang it securely. Use Command hooks to hold garland without nails, and floral wire to create swags or attach ornaments and ribbon.
- Add height. Group candlesticks, small trees, or lanterns at varying heights, and add a sign, mirror, or artwork above the mantel to draw the eye up.
- Light it safely. Weave battery-operated fairy lights through the greenery, and use LED candles near dried garland instead of real flames.
- Finish with stockings. Hang them evenly spaced, and repeat a color or pattern from the garland, like buffalo check or plaid, to tie the look together.
