Rehkamp Larson Architects is responsible for the design of this stunning prairie home located just west of the Twin Cities, in Hamel, Minnesota. This newly developed residence is positioned on the site of the owner’s former childhood home. The design took inspiration from the old house, using a similar material palette, and lifestyle on the property.

The homeowners wished to take maximize views of the surrounding prairie lands while providing an abundance of space to frequently entertain their extended family members. The flat roof‘s horizontal lines directly relate to the prairie setting while the interior’s plywood paneling, exposed concrete, and white oak balance warmth with a modern edge.

I love it…but I am bigot as I am a fan of FLW. I am assuming all of the bedrooms are on the lower level. There were no pictures of the master bedroom and I couldn’t tell if the garage went all the way to the back of the structure.
Pictures of the rear of the house would have been nice to see if the house blended into the hillside.
This is a wonderful example of blend of prairie and Usonian houses so thank you for sharing it with us.
