Stillwater Architecture, together with Hunter Interior Design, has created this gorgeous modern lake house retreat nestled on Whitefish Lake, Montana. The homeowner of this mountain lakefront getaway has a busy work life of traveling, using this home as a place to unwind and entertain family and friends. Interior living spaces are designed with a sophisticated mix of clean lines and soft, feminine details.

Both the architecture and interior design offer a contemporary palette that is warm and inviting. The design reflects the owner’s unique personality, inviting relaxation from the stresses of life while soaking in the mesmerizing views. One of the most significant design features in this home is its connection to nature, where the lines have been blurred between indoors and out.

The finishes and styling in this home are confusing and jarring to the senses. It looks like nobody involved in the design had a vision or plan, instead relying on a random collection of light, tiles and everything else. There is no flow or cohesion in the design. There is no thread connecting the spaces. Also, when are architects going to plan for owners/guests who have any sort of mobility challenges? It is all very nice to have the seamless look of steps without handrails down to the outdoor areas, but let us hope that the owners never have grandma,… Read more »

Agreed. As I scrolled thru the photos, it was like reading an anthology, rather than a cohesive single story.

Described as “warm and inviting”? I don’t think so. More like cold and confusing! The only thing warm is outside the home, the beautiful cladding and wooden terrace. Can the fireplace actually be used without having the local fire department on call?

The massive stone entry seating nook is almost comical in relation to the greater interior.

The Bunk room is so cute but I do not envy who has to change those sheets.

The exterior of the home & how it is landscaped in this setting is amazing. Initially had me super excited about this home -but- the interior (with some exceptions) is a bit disappointing. Fireplace looks for show and non functional. Vertical I-beam posts are oddly curved for some reason. Some spaces just look incohesive like the home doesnt know if it wants to be mod or mountain. Overuse of busy veined tile in a bathroom. Main living area doesn’t look very inviting/comfortable (where do you hang out with family, chill or play games). A couple pics are great though… Bedroom… Read more »

Nice to see a house with wood windows instead of trendy black. I would like to know the manufacturer of the windows.

Love the exterior design for the transition of living spaces down to the lake. The few steps with the landing between is brilliant and the spa located (on the way) is absolutely lovely.
