This mountain ranch is a family retreat designed by Daniel J. Murphy Architect and built by Copper Creek Homes, located in Crested Butte, Colorado. Built as a getaway home for skiing and fishing, this handcrafted home is nestled below a secluded ridge. Positioned in an aspen grove with majestic views, the property is where you will find elk, deer, and bears roam.
This rustic mountain home was built using reclaimed wood and handpicked Gunnison County stone. A spectacular fire tower features breathtaking views of Mount Crested Butte, while a bridge crosses over a beautiful water feature to the hand-hewn guest quarters with another leading to a barn.
Project Team: Architect: Daniel J. Murphy | Builder: Copper Creek Homes | Timber Framing: Combined Timber Crafts
With two original hewn buildings, one a guest cabin and the other a barn, each connected to the main house by a bridge. A lookout tower at the intersection of the two bridges was incorporated using four 10x20x30โ reclaimed Douglas Fir columns set on a 4ยฐ pitch.
What We Love: This mountain ranch retreat provides a restful respite for a family to gather together and enjoy outdoor activities. A year-round home, the architects did a fabulous job of creating a design that would work well through the seasons. We are especially loving the rustic material palette and the unique bridge design that connects the guest cabin and barn to the main house.
