This light-filled mountain dream home is the epitome of luxury living, designed by MHK Architecture in collaboration with Bluestone Construction, tucked into the north slope of Paris Mountain, just north of Greenville, South Carolina. Winning multiple residential awads, this beautifully crafted sanctuay was made for luxury living and entertaining, either with family or an entire group of people by the pool or gathering around the stone fireplace on the screened-in porch.

Boasting spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, superb attention to detail and great execution during construction have made this a true legacy home for its owners — a retired art gallery owner and a financial executive. Continue below to see the rest of this inspiring home tour…

The home blends clean lines, curated materials, and wide-open views of Caesars Head. Bluestone Construction was brought in early to assist with site selection, team assembly, and construction. The final design—anchored by a long, light-filled corridor for displaying art—was inspired by a fleeting scene in a foreign film.

Expansive windows frame the Blue Ridge Mountains, while warm wood finishes, custom millwork, and minimalist detailing offer a quiet backdrop for the couple’s collection of paintings, sculpture, and rare books.

Every detail, from slope-sensitive siting to the interplay of light and volume, was crafted to reflect the owners’ refined, creative lifestyle and to blur the line between dwelling and gallery.

Cantilevered Bedroom Suite Suspended Over the Treetops

Above: Pushing the boundaries of modern design, the owner’s bedroom suite projects 20 feet beyond the stone base, suspended by massive steel I-beams. The homeowners wanted a dramatic architectural statement that still felt like a private sanctuary and by choosing to cantilever rather than build up, they achieved exactly that. The result is a glass-fronted corridor that floats above a water feature, leading to a bedroom suite tucked directly into the treetops.

What We Love About This Home

The cantilevered bedroom suite floating above the treetops is a true showstopper, an architectural masterpiece that’s as bold as it is serene. We also love so many other details in this home, such as the art gallery-inspired corridor, where warm oak millwork and curated collections turn an everyday hallway into a destination. The seamless connection between indoors and out, from the screened porch with its stone fireplace to the sumptuous swimming pool overlooking the Blue Ridge, makes this home feel like a permanent vacation.
