Tour this tranquil Santa Barbara retreat with midcentury-inspired interiors

entry to a home with a stone path and plants

Corrine Mathern Studio led the interior transformation of this midcentury-inspired contemporary home. Spanning over 3,000 square feet across two levels, it is a peaceful Santa Barbara retreat reimagined for a young couple and their two Wirehaired Pointing Griffons.

After moving from Dallas to California, the couple was drawn to the site’s gorgeous views, which inspired them to create this home’s peaceful design. Mathern and her team took inspiration from the Aman Hotel in Kyoto, Japan, and designed a home that exudes harmony and balance and reflects the beauty of nature.

The designer thoughtfully selected an earthy color palette that included blue, green, and yellow tones combined with raw wood, textural clay, and soothing stone. This blend of materials gave the property a true sense of flow and balance. โ€œWe created a seamless connection between the indoor spaces and the exterior areas that invite you to experience them as one and the same,โ€ states designer Corrine Mathern.
