Known as “Forest Edge Retreat”, this mountain home was designed by Tindall Architecture Workshop and built by CarsonSpeer Builders, situated in Greenville, South Carolina.

This home brings together contemporary architecture and natural beauty in perfect balance, with subtle mid-century influences—clean geometry, wide overhangs, and seamless indoor-outdoor flow—defining its character. Stone, composite siding, and expansive glass create a striking contrast that grounds the home in its mountainside setting.

Here, architecture and landscape exist in harmony. Drystack stone extends from the exterior into interior spaces, erasing boundaries between indoors and out, while warm siding tones and wood soffits echo the forest palette. Walls of glass frame ridgeline views and flood each space with light. This is modern mountain living, redefined.

What We Love About This Home

What we love most about Forest Edge Retreat is how effortlessly it dissolves the line between shelter and setting. The drystack stone doesn’t stop at the threshold; it carries straight through from the exterior into the living spaces, tying the whole home to its mountainside perch. Add in the walnut-and-marble kitchen, the wraparound glass that pulls in those ridgeline views from nearly every room, and the owner’s suite that opens directly onto its own private patio, and the result is a home that feels completely at home on its mountainside site.

Tell Us: What would you change in the design of this South Carolina forest retreat, if anything? We would love to hear your thoughts in the Comments below!
