This rugged yet refined mountain house was beautifully designed by Jarvis Group Architects in collaboration with Conrad Brothers Construction, located in the mountains of Ketchum, Idaho. One of the more unique features of this 6,104 square foot home is the fact that it is built at the base of an alluvial fan in the mouth of the canyon.
The soil conditions were unsuitable for construction and required extensive geotechnical remediation before construction could begin. This project emphasized the importance of working with a team from pre-construction through to finish.

This warm and inviting home offers beautiful details throughout, from rustic white oak flooring to striking beams, trusses, and expansive windows that fill the space with natural light. Above: The walls of this 24′ by 28′ living room are plaster —natural color—no paint involved. The floors are Rustic White Oak, random width with a custom finish done by LT Hardwoods of Hailey, Idaho. They are used throughout the home.

The island features a 6′ x 5′ wire-brushed stainless steel top with a patina finish. Those are rivets that you see on the corners. Reclaimed wood beams are available regionally through a variety of suppliers. The beams used throughout the home are reclaimed fir timbers. The dimensions are 18′ by 18′.
