Tiffany Leigh Design has reimagined this home with an English cottage in the woods vibe, situated in a private forest setting in Ontario, Canada. When designing this home, the interior designer injected an earthy and moody color scheme with inviting living spaces throughout. She wanted to honor the property’s private forest setting, decorating the home with cabin-in-the-woods elements.
On the main level, you will find an English aesthetic from the kitchen to the living and dining room. This home is all about comfort, livability, and connection with loved ones.

When redesigning the kitchen, the designer thought about function, storage, and the way one would feel when they are pouring a glass of wine at the counter or stirring a pot of sauce on the stove. She thought about the pieces on display that will feel like home while reflecting the owner’s personality.

What We Love: The designer did a fabulous job of reimagining this home to feel cozy and inviting throughout the living spaces. We are loving the stone fireplace in the living room, it adds beautiful character and charm to the space. The slipcovered sofas are a fabulous idea in this high-traffic area. We are especially loving the kitchen, with its warm, earthy feel, the marble countertops, and the open shelves displaying the family’s treasures.

Above: In the living room, the designer drew inspiration from the original river stone fireplace, which she wanted to honor with her design selection. Before the renovation, the stone did not go all the way to the ceiling, so she removed a bulkhead, swapped out the windows for taller ones, and matched the stonework to go all the way up.
The English cottage in the woods vibe is strong in the living room, featuring relaxed slipcovered sofas, an earthy palette of olives, creams, and rusts, and a designated spot for firewood.
Above: The homeowners have young twin daughters and they love sharing a bedroom. This space features fun and whimsical elements without being too childish. The designer created a pattern-filled space with beautiful striped floral wallpaper, quilts, and a subtle blue painted ceiling (the paneling adds a stripe).
