Swan Architecture has crafted this Mediterranean-inspired home situated in the historic Country Club neighborhood of Edina, Minnesota. The last newly constructed home in this area, this beautiful 4,006-square-foot dwelling is nestled on a charming street with Mediterranean and cottage-style homes.
The owner sought a synthesis of the two that would integrate within the traditional streetscape yet reflect modern-day living standards and lifestyle. This classic home highlights an open floor plan, gourmet kitchen, five bedrooms, five bathrooms, and refined finishes throughout.

Mediterranean Exterior with Stucco Facade
The architects designed the exterior of this home with a classic Mediterranean influence, featuring a stucco façade and a copper chimney cap, an unexpected detail for the home. The Juliet balcony on the front of the house is accessible from the princess suite, boasting fantastic views of the beautiful neighborhood below.

Entryway and Foyer Design Details
Above: Accenting this beautiful foyer is a bench built by Designed and Made. The circular window above the bench mirrors the one in the built-in bar area of the kitchen. The front door emits an abundance of light into this space to balance the heavily stained cabinetry.
Above: In the foyer, an arched opening offers a sneak peek into the great room, with curves formed by sheetrock. Wall sconces are by Thomas O’Brien, Silhouette 2 Light 9-inch Hand-Rubbed Antique Brass Decorative Wall Light — TOB2600HAB-NP. The back plates perfectly complement the arched opening.

Stylish Kitchen and Dining Room Design
Above: Calcutta marble countertops and backsplash are the understated gem in this exquisite kitchen. The warm gold veining beautifully complements the light beige cabinetry.
Above: In this elegantly styled kitchen, the cast stone hood defines the space and all of the design selections that followed. The reclaimed wood beams are the perfect addition to this space, helping to bring the formality down a notch. An oversized iron chandelier was installed over the island, adding plenty of light while not blocking the hood, windows or exquisite appliances on the exterior wall.
Above: The wood beams are carried through into the great room to visually connect the two rooms. The same cast stone material from the kitchen hood has been used to create this fireplace wall detail.

Mudroom and Powder Room Design
Above: In the mudroom, wall to wall closed storage allows this room to be well organized and functional for an active family. The bench detail is inspired by the bat wing motif of an old furniture pull, finished in the same color as the wall.

Owner’s Bedroom and Ensuite Bathroom
Above: The design of the owner’s bathroom was inspired by a furniture piece the designer had spotted in a magazine during one of her travels. Marble countertops have a waterfall effect, adding a touch of modernity to the cabinetry and perfectly complementing the tub.

Laundry Room With Checkered Floor
Above: In the laundry room, the black and white checkered floor is a nod to the historical past of this neighborhood. The theme of black and white is repeated in the white cabinetry and black honed granite countertops.
Lower Level Bar and Wine Cellar
Above: The lower level includes a built-in bar, wine cellar and a guest bedroom suite. The beautiful white oak bar cabinets are a perfect compliment to the chevron paneling in the wine cellar.
Above: Integrated into the white oak built-in bar, an antique mirror allows light to reflect off the wall, making the room feel more spacious and bright.
Home Theater and Guest Suite
Above: The guest bathroom of this lower level offers plenty of charm. On the floor, patterned cement tile adds visual interest, complimented by chunky brass hardware and beautiful scones.
