Architectural studio KUBE Architecture was commissioned to undertake an extensive modern renovation of a private residence located on Smoky Quartz Lane, inย Rockville, Maryland. This brilliantly designed family home had a central scope for the project, to completely renovate the ground floor as well as the master bedroom suite.
The homeowners also wished to have the exterior facade of the home given a complete facelift. For the lower level, the desire was to completely open up this space, making it feel bright and airy. The result is a light-flooded interior that maximizes views, through floor-to-ceiling windows, out to the surrounding forest beyond.
The living room showcases double volume, soaring ceilings, open from above. A floor-to-ceiling fireplace is anchored by windows on either side, that perfectly frames the forested backyard. Light-hued wood flooring throughout the main living spaces helps to keep the home feeling luminous and airy.
Minimal modern furnishings perfectly accents the living room,ย keeping the home low-maintenance. Built-ins helps to keep personal items and accessories organized, from bookshelves to drawers in the home office and flat paneled walls in the kitchen. The upper level is just as organized, with clean lines and minimal furnishings and accessories.
What We Love: This gorgeous residence showcases a modern renovation that focuses on clean lines, minimal decoration and organization. We love the way the architects have not only maximized light, but brought nature inside through extensive use of windows. Overall, a well designed home that is perfect for family living.
