A charming cottage becomes a luxury vacation rental when the homeowner is traveling overseas, located on Filly Island, in Cirencester, Gloucestershire, United Kingdom. A quirky sense of style with a whole lot of creativity is what makes this quaint little home worthy of a home tour! Accessed via an old stone bridge in the middle of two waterways, this home began its roots in the 1700s as a cart shed next to a watermill. It was later converted into a house and was recently put up for sale and purchased by its current homeowner, an artist and owner of Made by Hands studio. When the owner took possession of the home, she noticed that the interior layout was poorly configured in such a small space. Everything was torn down, so all that was left were four walls and a roof, a clean, blank slate. The ceiling was removed to reveal wood ceiling beams and some of the original stone wall was also left exposed, leaving some historical interest intact. The interior of the home is a mix of industrial and romantic nuances with a strong passion for upcycling. Noteworthy features includes fire bucket light shades and curtains comprised of old Hungarian grain sacks. A peaceful location that is a perfect dream getaway for anyone wishing to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and be immersed in the tranquility of nature.

What We Love: Although small, this home and all its unique design details is very charming; its history makes it unique and the surroundings are very picturesque. A few days or a week, we can feel the stress melting away at the thought of staying at this heavenly retreat!

The adjoining bathroom features a sliding barn door to separate the spaces.
