Step inside this inviting French eclectic house in Los Angeles

This French eclectic house was reimagined by Jessica Helgerson Interior Design, located between the neighborhoods of Larchmont Village and Windsor Square in Los Angeles, California. Originally constructed in 1924, the historic preservation society defines this house as French Eclectic – a common style following WWI.

Soldiers returning home were inspired to build Normandy-style houses with steeply pitched roofs, casement windows, French doors, and a combination of timber and stucco surfaces. On the interior, these houses often took on a Tudor or Spanish influence – sometimes a mixture of both.

The designers were tasked to remodel the kitchen and baths, create a guest suite on the ground floor, refresh the house throughout, and then furnish it comfortably for a casual family of three.

For all of the permanent features, they took our cues from the existing architecture and then layered on an eclectic mix of furnishings well-suited to the homeownerโ€™s lifestyles and reflective of their travels and interests.

What We Love: This gorgeous French eclectic home is loaded with warmth and texture throughout. We are loving how the designer preserved original details in the home to keep the charm and character. A mix of new and vintage pieces helps to create a lovely atmosphere that is warm and welcoming. We love every detail in this home, the designer did a fantastic job of thoughtfully curating every space.

Tell Us: What are your overall thoughts on the design of this home? Would you change any of the details if this were your own home? Let us know in the Comments!
