An amazing seaside retreat with a beach-chic vibe in Southern California

amazing-seaside-retreat-exterior

This amazing seaside retreat was designed by its owner Karen B. Wolf Interiors, located in Long Beach, a coastal city and port in Southern California. Constructed for the designer and three generations of her family to enjoy, this home reflects a relaxed beachy vibe. The design style melds California casual with a more traditional beach house aesthetic, nautical-inspired hues, and rustic textures.

California casual style is a decorating style that uses neutral, soft hues for the furnishings and walls. Living spaces are inviting and comfortable with a pared-back boho feel elevated with natural materials and fabrics that include leather, wood, linens, and stone. The color palette in this home is a mixture of blues, whites, and sandy tones, inspired by the adjacent ocean. Continue below to see the rest of this beautiful beach house…

To maximize ocean views, the main living spaces were organized on the upper level. An open concept layout encompasses a kitchen, dining area, and living room. The entire upper level is devoid of hallways, where the main bedroom is tucked away in the back of the space.

As a family retreat, emphasis on outdoor living was just as important as indoor living spaces. Each level features a sun deck and this upper-level deck is used for al fresco dining, capturing views of the Pacific Ocean on one side and the sunset on the other.

I like many of the design elements and architectural layout as well as a few of the furniture choices but over all some of it was ruined for me by just too much blue and no other colors added for interest and longevity. Ive lived on the beach my entire life and feel this is just overload.
