Modern farmhouse hideaway in the breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountains

This modern farmhouse hideaway was designed by Beau Clowney Architects and built by Buchanan Construction, nestled in the beautiful, exclusive gated community of The Ramble at Biltmore Forest in Asheville, North Carolina.

The 2020 Southern Living Idea House offers 3,650 square feet of living space, with four bedrooms and four-and-a-half baths — and plenty of porch space for outdoor living.

This residence was constructed featuring the latest in innovative design and architecture, while also reflecting the unique natural beauty and welcoming nature of the western North Carolina mountains. Step inside this modern farmhouse hideaway for an abundance of design inspiration…

The project team collaborated to create a classic mountain house surrounded by woods in the tranquil Blue Ridge Mountains. For the design, the idea was to create a family farmhouse that appears to be added onto over time. The overall feeling of this home is a quaint cottage in the woods, providing a strong indoor-outdoor connection.

Above: The exterior facade features James Hardie’s Artisan lap siding and HardieShingle siding (on the archway). Paint color is Sherwin-Williams | Emerald Rain Refresh Exterior Latex Paint with custom tint in Extra White SW 7006, which stands up against the elements. The front door is painted in Rural Green SW 6418 – Sherwin-Williams.

For the interior design, living spaces feature soulful antiques, a color palette inspired by nature, and cozy gathering spaces that are comfortable and inviting to soak in the tranquil setting. The finished result is a relaxing getaway for year-round mountain living and a place to gather with family and friends.

What We Love: This modern farmhouse hideaway offers a spectacular place to surround yourself in fresh mountain air and the beauty of nature.
