Swan Architecture in collaboration with Streeter & Associates designed this gorgeous home with Italian elegance, located in Edina, Minnesota. The facade of this home gives the initial impression of a modern take on an Italian villa when first glancing at the exterior. On the interior, the contrast couldn’t be more significant.

On the interior, the contrast couldn’t be more significant, as you step into a world of Hollywood regency and glamour, also known as “maximalism.”

This project is entitled ‘Il Nostro Sogno’, translated from Italian this means “Our Dream”. The owners desired the design influence of old Hollywood glamour mixed with classic Italian flavor to create a dramatic impact. Bold contrasts of the dark with light brings drama while still maintaining a zen balance throughout.

What We Love: This dream house features a unique mix of Hollywood glamour with Italian elegance to create a stunning aesthetic. The maximalist design showcases the homeowner’s personality throughout the interiors. This home has fantastic curb appeal, with its large, inviting windows and black and white contrast. We are especially loving the glamorous design style throughout the interiors, perfect for entertaining.

The floor plan is simple and open, with total discretion paid towards architecturally defining each space within. The result is a maximalist (the opposite of minimalist) home with whimsical classicism.

Lovely Mediterranean exterior and so rare in MN.Designing the interiors of a Mediterranean home is a privilege. Dark wood flooring, custom wrought iron designs, priceless,colourful, faded Persian rugs scattered about the space— filled with the inspiration of old LA, Los Feliz bungalows is magnificent. Those glamorous, tasteful homes become featured in Architectural Digest. Unfortunately, this Mediterranean drew the short straw. Whether the owner didn’t understand that teaming Hollywood Regency (it’s a less expensive dupe of Kris Jenner’s home) with Med is a no. It’s not maximalist.
