This historic timber frame house was beautifully reimagined by Rosenberg Kolb Architects, nestled on Nantucket, a small island just off Cape Cod, Massachusetts. This 1,747-square-foot dwelling is the first historic renovation project in Nantucket to achieve LEED Gold status. The project was given a Grand Award by Eco Home Magazine.

Highlights of this project include: Restructuring the foundations to align and stabilize the structure while providing for a new insulated crawl space. A brand-new 260-square-foot addition that features an entry, kitchen, and bath. New cedar shingles, roof shingles, and restored historic windows.

The residence met the strict regulations of Nantucket’s Historic District. On the interior, LEED Gold certification was achieved through High R-value insulation and reduced air leakage; High-efficiency heating, air conditioning, plumbing fixtures, and appliances. Low-emission paints and finishes as well as a clay wall finish. Using reclaimed materials from the original house and other sites.

What We Love: This timber frame house on the island of Nantucket has been beautifully restored to offer warm and inviting living spaces. Beach chic furnishings throughout this dwelling provide a relaxed vibe while also being aesthetically pleasing. We are especially loving the beautifully designed bedrooms for the owners and their guests. The added bonus of this historic restoration project is its LEED Gold status!
