This rustic lake house sanctuary was designed by Phinney Design Group in collaboration with A Perfect Placement, located on Lake George in Upstate New York. Desiring a unique and family oriented vacation home, this house incorporates recycled features and characteristics, including reused timber members. The view from the house opens out to the picturesque Adirondack Mountains. Visitors can visually connect to the steamboats and other vessels on Lake George throughout the various communal spaces both inside and out of the house.

Above: On the exterior facade, the fiber cement siding is painted Benjamin Moore Aura paint in ‘witching hour’ #2120-30.  Roof: Ultra HD GAF roof shingles in ‘Pewter Gray’. The stone is Adirondack Natural Granite in the Ashlar Pattern, sourced by Adirondack Natural Stone. All the exterior trim is in semi-gloss ‘superwhite’ by Benjamin Moore. Timberwork stain: Cetol Log and Siding No.085 ‘Teak’,

Above: Pine shiplap paneled walls are characteristic throughout the entire house lending a modern Cape Cod feel to the house.

Above: Central to the plan are two fireplaces, in the living room and lower level recreation room, both finished with natural stone and providing a warm and familiar feel. On the ceiling, the fan was sourced from Big Ass Fans.

What We Love: This lake house sanctuary provides a warm and inviting home nestled lakeside for family gatherings. Large windows frame breathtaking views to create a tranquil atmosphere to promote relaxation. We are especially loving the screened-in porch with the daybed, the ultimate spot to curl up with a good read or to take an afternoon siesta!

Above: In the kitchen, the island countertops are marble (sourced from Albany Marble), while the perimeter countertops are soapstone. The moveable island is 42” x 42”. The linear pendant light above the dining table is from Cisco Brothers, while the glass lights above the island are from Restoration Hardware.

Above: The linear, contemporary staircase introduces visitors to an open gallery upstairs. The second level features operable skylights, with natural ventilation flowing throughout the two upper levels during the sweltering summer months.

Above: A large screened porch extends from the kitchen and dining room providing a cozy space with a custom hung daybed. The rope is 2” diameter. The hanging bed was bought from Luke Phillips Furniture in Fairhope, AL.

Above: The navy blue outdoor lights are the Carson 12″ Wall Sconce from Rejuvenation Hardware.
