Elms Interior Design has created this stunning forever home situated in Cape Cod, a peninsula in southeastern Massachusetts. Sited on a sprawling perch that captures soft light throughout the day, this ground-up build would become the dream setting for a family residence on Cape Cod. The designer installed a custom Christopher Peacock kitchen with a large banquette for dining and family time.
To create an added flow to what would become a main gathering place for the family, the designer added a pocket window from the kitchen to the four-season porch, a convenient way to pass food and beverages to the cheerful lookout, with a palette of summery colors.

The homeowner owned an impressive art collection that would inform color choices and accents from room to room, including many vintage pieces sourced by the designer. Custom millwork was installed throughout, and wide-plank Dinesen floors were flown in from Denmark.

The fireplace with wood touches makes a dramatic centerpiece in the family room. To facilitate working from home, the designer installed his and her offices inside the front door to separate work from family life. There is also a guest suite as well as a large finished basement with 10 ½ foot ceilings made from reclaimed wood.

What We Love About This Home
In this Cape Cod forever home, wide-plank floors and a custom kitchen set a high bar from the start, while a vintage Wianno Club sign presiding over a soaring fieldstone fireplace feels like it has been there for generations. The four-season porch, with its sky-blue shiplap walls, pocket window to the kitchen, and cheerful mix of pink and blue upholstery, may be the best room in the house. Each bathroom has its own personality, with nautical oar wallpaper in one, a map of Cape Cod covering the walls of another, and a red double trough sink in the kids’ bath.
