TBD Architecture, together with Jessica Helgerson Interior Design, has reimagined this Scandinavian-style beach retreat into a light-filled family home in Amagansett, New York, located in the heart of the Hamptons, a seaside community brimming with historic charm. The design team made significant changes to the 3,000-square-foot floor plan, shifting almost every room.
This post-modern home expanded from two bedrooms to four bedrooms to meet the lifestyle needs of this family of five. Additional design changes included creating a cozy sitting room with built-in sofas on both levels. Continue below to see more of this impressive home tour…

The kitchen was also expanded by using the extra space that had previously been a screened-in porch. The palette was very restrained, featuring pale wood, white painted wood, handmade white tile, marble, and brass. When it came to furnishing this home, the designers were inspired by their stylish clients. They incorporated timeless Danish pieces with some more modern touches.

The overall result is an interior layout that was significantly modified to create a more spacious living area for the homeowners. New Scandinavian-inspired finishes can be seen throughout the interiors, from painted wood wall boards to decorative ceiling beams. Although the scope of this project primarily focused on gut-renovating the interiors, a few key exterior improvements were made.

This includes utilizing the space from a screened porch and a recessed entry area. They were both enclosed, therefore increasing the interior square footage and improving the proportions of the facade. New windows and lighting were installed, and a fresh paint scheme helped to dramatically transform this home.
