Field Issue Design, in collaboration with Sarahliz Lawson Design, has created this luxurious wine country retreat surrounded by the lush greens of the Silverado Resort golf course in Napa, California. The homeowners, a pair of empty nesters, dreamed of having a home with a strong indoor-outdoor connection. They desired a wine country retreat to enjoy their love of golf.
The original structure was built in the 1970’s and was almost entirely replaced in order to bring the home up to code and the style up to date. The layout efficiently utilized a 3,700-square-foot footprint to accommodate single-story living with four en-suite bedrooms. Continue below to see the rest of this impressive wine country getaway…

The architect provided a solid foundation: giant wood beams, large sliding doors facing the golf course, and an entryway that seamlessly connects the front of the house to the outdoor living space in the back.
Warm Entryway with Wood Beam Ceiling and Herringbone Floors

The entry seamlessly draws you to the main gathering spaces at the back of the home, where there is a strong connection between the interior and exterior entertaining areas, including a pool and the golf course.
Vaulted Ceilings and Exposed Wood Beams

For the interior, the designer layered warm wood tones and natural textures into the selection of furnishings and fixtures, and mixed traditional and modern elements throughout the home.

What We Love About This Home
This wine country retreat strikes a balance between relaxed California living and true luxury, where every detail feels intentional without ever feeling fussy. We love how the architecture does the heavy lifting, with soaring vaulted ceilings and giant wood beams that give the home its soul, while the interiors layer in warmth through natural textures, warm oak tones, and beautifully curated finishes. From the stunning marble kitchen to the four uniquely wallpapered bathrooms, this is a home that rewards every closer look.
