Teakwood Builders founder Jim Sasko and his wife designed a modern white farmhouse in Malta, New York, that fulfills every wish on their list while remaining within budget. Farmhouse of Seven Gables was completed with meticulous attention to detail in partnership with Balzer & Tuck Architecture. Expansive glass windows provide sweeping 180-degree views, connecting the interior to the changing seasons and the surrounding landscape.

In addition to the main residence, the property features a barn that supports the Sasko family’s miniature horse breeding operation. Combining practical functionality with award-winning contemporary design, this modern farmhouse exemplifies Teakwood Builders’ commitment to craftsmanship, innovation, and harmonious integration with a home’s natural surroundings.

A simplified farmhouse aesthetic was chosen for the exterior of this home. The front elevation is anchored by a heavy timber sitting porch, which has views overlooking the paddock area. The gabled roof forms anchor the building to the field, adding dimension to the landscape on an otherwise flat site.

Above: The front doors are semi-custom and were manufactured by Rogue Valley. These wood doors are knotty alder with a clear poly finish. The windows are Pella Architect series. They are wood windows with an aluminum-clad exterior with a black factory finish. The siding is James Hardie fiber cement lap siding. The railings are metal and were custom-fabricated. The steps are cedar with a gray stain. The shingles are Owens Corning Duration, and the color is Estate Gray. The standing seam roof is Slate Gray and was custom-fabricated.

What We Love About This Home

That wraparound porch with its timber columns and row of white rocking chairs is the kind of welcome that instantly makes you feel at home. The kitchen is a true standout with its shiplap ceiling, farmhouse sink, and gorgeous stone countertops that strike the perfect balance between hardworking and beautiful. The consistency of thoughtful design throughout, from the well-appointed mudroom to the grand staircase, shows the attention to detail that emerges when a builder gets to construct his own family’s dream home.
