We are a little late to Christmas in July this year, but we wanted to get this out to help you begin prepping for the holidays. We are part of a Christmas decorating community on Facebook, and it’s already buzzing with people getting ready early for the holiday season.

Early planning might sound excessive, but anyone who’s tackled a full house of Christmas decor knows there is real strategy involved, and starting now means less scrambling later. We have always loved this time of year, and each season we round up fresh Christmas inspiration to help you plan your holiday look, room by room. Great tips to consider for the upcoming holiday season:

• Color Schemes. What color schemes did you have last year? Can you find a way to incorporate these same color schemes, yet in a different room of your home? This is an excellent way to begin the process of holiday decorating. You should ponder over what color schemes you used last year and find a way to interchange them, reusing the decor you already have. Reinventing the wheel. Get creative!
• Themes. Did you have a theme last year? Do you want to decorate with a new theme this year? You may wish to have the same run throughout your home or have a different theme for each space. This could be a winter wonderland, gingerbread, plaids, woodland, traditional, pastels, etc. You may find that this year you would like to switch this out, whether it be a fresh theme or switch the decor to another room for a festive new look.
• Staple Pieces. What staple pieces did you use last season? Can you repurpose/reimagine these decorations? Every year, you may wish to add a couple of pricier pieces to your Christmas collection to layer in with your usual holiday decor. If so, think about how you want to reuse your old decor before purchasing something you have on your wishlist from your favorite holiday go-to store, or bookmarked on Pinterest or Instagram.

1. Have a Merry Coastal Christmas.

This will be the third year that we have partnered with King of Christmas to celebrate Christmas in July. We kept this year more simple, and decorated this year’s tree by the swimming pool with a fun coastal theme. This is a beautiful 9′ King Noble Flock Artificial Christmas Tree with 700 Warm White LED Lights from King of Christmas. One warning we have for you: despite the tree being absolutely stunning, be mindful that you will need to clean up some loose flocking after fluffing up your tree, but the look will be worth the extra mess!  

Also, one other note worth mentioning: when you set your tree up, be sure to notice the tree has labels on it, A, B, C, D. You will want to get the correct order the first time, so you don’t have to pull it apart and reset the tree. Even if you do this accidentally, if you step back from your tree, it will be obvious! We do love the remote control that comes with the tree, which lets you adjust the lighting to different settings. The tree also comes with fluffing gloves so you don’t get scratched up while you set it up, which is a small but thoughtful touch we always appreciate.

Overall, this tree brought exactly the relaxed, coastal vibe we were going for by the pool this year. It’s easy to set up once you get the sections in the right order; the flocking gives it that soft, snow-kissed look without feeling overdone, and the warm white LEDs make it feel cozy even against a backyard summer scene. If you are planning your own tree this year, we can’t recommend King of Christmas enough, and this particular tree is a great place to start.

2. Nostalgic Christmas Tree.

This was last year’s Christmas in July tree, and to help celebrate, we opted for a nostalgic Christmas tree. We decorated the tree with decorations that had been tucked away in a storage box, long forgotten. The tree is an 8′ Tribeca Spruce Blue Artificial Christmas Tree with 650 Warm White LED Lights from King of Christmas Tree, which was gifted to us. It was extremely simple to put together, shape, and decorate. It came with special gloves for shaping the tree, along with a fabulous bag for storing the tree. We have tested the bag, and it is very spacious and durable. We love the Christmas tree and recommend you purchase one this holiday season. It is best to buy your tree sooner rather than later so you can make sure you purchase all the decorations you need to create the theme or color scheme you desire.

3. Decorate Your Courtyard.

This was from a prior year’s Christmas in July tree that we decorated in an outdoor courtyard with a beautiful King of Christmas 7′ King Noble Fir with Lights that was gifted to us. Most of the decorations on our tree were sourced from Kirkland’s Home.
