Lightfoot Architecture, in collaboration with Copperline Homes, has designed this spectacular high-desert modern home located in Bend, Oregon. This 4,188-square-foot home came together the way the best projects do—with a talented team, real attention to craft, and the kind of details you don’t get tired of looking at. The site called for something that could hold its own against those wide-open high desert views, and every material was chosen with that in mind.
Vertical grain fir ceilings run throughout, with exposed steel beams and glass walls that bring the high desert right inside. Outside, board-formed concrete and shou sugi ban siding give the home a quiet presence on the land. Clean lines, natural materials, and the kind of craftsmanship that rewards a closer look. Grounded from the moment you walk in, exactly what the project team was going for.

What We Love About This Home
The combination of vertical-grain fir ceilings, exposed steel beams, and glass walls creates an interior that feels genuinely connected to the surrounding high-desert landscape rather than simply overlooking it. Board-formed concrete and shou sugi ban siding give the exterior a grounded, tactile presence that works with the land instead of competing with it. Every material choice reflects a project team that understood exactly where this home sits and what it needed to be.
