Still Waters is a custom lakefront estate, built by McGray & Nichols and designed by Studio Sage Interiors, nestled on picturesque Lake Sunapee in New Hampshire. Highlights of this lake house include cedar shingle siding, heavy timber beam ceilings, standing seam metal roofing, deep overhanging eaves, and an indoor lap pool with a full glass wall facing the lake.

The home sits within a stand of mature pines that pull the lake into frame from nearly every room. Inside, the great room is anchored by an exposed timber A-frame ceiling, walnut built-ins, and a dramatic double-sided see-through fireplace clad floor-to-ceiling in white marble — visible from both the living and dining areas. Continue below to see the rest of this amazing lake house that includes an indoor pool pavilion and a lakeside dock.

What We Love About This Home

What makes this lake house so special is how seamlessly the architecture melds into its setting. We are loving the double-sided marble fireplace, the warmth of the timber ceiling, and the floor-to-ceiling windows that frame breathtaking lake views. Then there is the indoor pool pavilion, which opens entirely onto the lawn and lake, a rare residential amenity that transforms this lakefront estate into a fabulous year-round retreat.

Indoor Lap Pool Pavilion with Glass Wall and Lake Views

Modern cedar-clad pool house with flat roof, exposed beams, and floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors

Above: The indoor pool pavilion is a separate cedar-clad structure with a wall of black-framed sliding glass that opens fully to the lawn. It is uncommon in residential construction in New Hampshire, and the lake view it frames makes clear why it was worth the effort.

Lake Sunapee earns its light. The surrounding hills hold the sun back until it arrives low and directional, turning cedar and water into something worth waiting for.
