Organic modern retirement home in the glorious North Carolina mountains

mountain-modern-home-exterior

Harding Huebner Architects in collaboration with Allard + Roberts Interior Design has created this organic modern retirement home located on Town Mountain in Asheville, North Carolina. Conveniently sited near Asheville, this custom home was created to make the most of the expansive mountain views. The design employed locally sourced materials for the hard surfaces.

The project team worked together with local craftsmen to create handcrafted details throughout the home. This included the front door, stair railings, exterior railings, powder bath vanities, and the kitchen range hood. The designers sourced upholstery made in North Carolina and designed locally crafted custom furnishings for the interiors.

In addition to sourcing the architectural fixtures and finishes, and selecting the area rugs, lighting, furniture, and decor, the designers also worked with the homeowners on curating a collection of artwork and objects sourced through local art galleries. The finished result is an organic modern home that maximizes its location and views while integrating custom-crafted details, furnishings, artwork, and decor. The owners now enjoy their dwelling with their two dogs, and love to entertain with visiting friends and family.

What We Love: This organic modern mountain home was crafted into a mountainside to taking advantage of the spectacular views. Inspired by this home’s surrounding the simple, regionally sourced material palette seems to meld into the landscape. We are especially loving the atmosphere of the living room, with its expansive windows that soak in the views and beautiful fireplace for warmth and ambiance.

Retirement? For almost no extra cost to the construction of such home it could have been accessible and offer an elevator, then one plans for retirement….long term

The house was designed to accommodate an elevator. It was also designed such that every room on the main level is accessible to the owners, including their bedroom suite. Upper level are guest rooms.
