Inside a brilliant renovation of a contemporary industrial flat in Barcelona

contemporary-industrial-dining-room

This contemporary industrial style flat with vintage touches was completely renovated by Sincro Interior Design Studio, located in Barcelona, Spain. A classical apartment of just 1,615 square feet (150 square meters), this home was constructed in the early 20th century.

With the renovation, it has been possible to redistribute all the rooms, obtaining an open space for a daytime area, and other private zones to rest and sleep peacefully. Some of the original elements of the house have been recovered, such as the restored ceilings with metal beams and the Catalan vault that give great originality to the intended rooms.

Kitchen

The concept of the kitchen was conceived as an open plan with the living room. In there, furniture has been set up in dark blue by Auró Cuines with considerable storage capacity. The work surface is made of natural granite stone in a silky finish from Granith. The textured matte black extractor hood is from Pando, and the faucet and ceramic sink, reminiscent of the old, are from Franke. Also, high-end appliances have been installed, with brands such as Siemens and Neff.

“We also find an island, with a wine cellar underneath, ideal for eating and having a good time with family and friends,” states the designer.

The open and wide spaces, with an easy-going style and great contrasts, between modern and aggressive which is so characteristic of the industrial decorative style, is what predominates in the household.

The industrial atmosphere is present in many of the elements, using remarkable materials such as the original exposed brick, which were been preserved on many of the walls; the imitation of cement with large-format Mirage ceramics for almost all the flooring; use of iron, visible in many elements, but highlighting its presence in exposed beams and pillars; and wood, very present in the furniture, but above all, in the original wooden slat, present in the flooring of the bedroom suite and the office, which it has been regained.

Living room

The highlight of the living room is the gas fireplace, which in order to give it prominence, has been covered it’s entire vertical with the 20 × 20 cm ceramic by Aparici.

The “TV cabinet” goes unnoticed for its minimalist design and for the entire custom-made black iron sheet; and the Vescom vinyl siding behind the TV in the same color makes the Samsung TV The Frame stand out more, a way to have beautiful artwork and photos.

The cabinetmaker work can be seen on the large table and bench in the living room, made of 7 cm thick solid wood planks and iron structures. The LED lighting in the living room is indirect and is hidden in the ORAC decorative cornices, illuminating the spectacular Catalan vaulted ceiling. The rest of the mustard-colored luminaries are from Ferroluce.

What We Love: This contemporary industrial flat offers its inhabitants a newly renovated home that is chic and stylish. An open layout makes this small home feel expansive while creating a harmonious flow. Exposed brick adds character to this space while creating a feeling of authenticity. Overall, we think the interior designers did a brilliant job of creating an inviting home for both living and working.

Apart from the industrial style, there is also a touch of other styles, such as the bohemian, for example, in the hammock corner and guest bedroom, where a wide range of colors and patterns are used with an occasional ethnic or tribal element.

The velvet sofa and chaise longue in the living room with thumbtacks are from Gems Barcelona, which has created these unique and spectacular pieces for us.

Suite type bedroom

All the bedroom furniture is made by Tegar Mobel, with a vintage aged wood finish simulation, looking for the different touch that the room required. It also has a dressing room with a large storage capacity. The furniture imitates a dark tone of the wood, in the same way, that we can see in the bathroom furniture.

Office

A studio has been designed to be able to work at home, but at the same time creating a pleasant space, with a lot of personality to spend time listening to music, reading, etc.

Even the Wabi-Sabi style fits into this design concept as it is characterized by being a mix of vintage with rustic and bohemian, and where the old is used to create something new. For example, it is seen on the coffee table in the studio and the console in the bedroom suite, manufactured by joining two original radiators from the house with a glass top.

Bathroom for him

In this second bathroom, a more masculine and industrial style has been preferred, in which the turquoise stripped imitation wood tiles by Unica Ceramiche stand out; also the industrial-looking sink and cabinet from Tikamoon. The Japanese-style toilet is from Grohe.

Hall and hallway

The doors also play a great role in this renovation, out of the ordinary they have been lacquered in anthracite gray and there are different types. The most remarkable ones are the sliding doors that lead to the hallway covered with a photographic vinyl design, leaving thus the usual monotonous sense of these passage rooms.

Even the hall is endowed with a great personality, with a large storage closet, covered in Vescom vinyl gold leather look like, which combines very well with the customers’ drawer and mirror, and also with the decorative pieces that the room houses.

The furniture in this room is also from Tegar, in a mint green finish, which gives the feeling of cleanliness and calm along with the timeless white marble, and the neutral ceramic tiles on the Aparici wall.
