Flavin Architects have designed this warm and inviting New England woodland retreat, located in Weston, a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts. This newly designed dwelling respectfully steps back from the adjacent wetland. The roofline slopes up to the south, allowing maximum natural light during the winter months.
Deciduous trees to the south were preserved and provide summer shade along with the home’s deep overhangs. The architects’ signature warm modern vibe is made using vertical cedar accents that complement the warm grey metal siding. The floor plan of this structure undulates along its south side, maximizing views of the verdant woodland garden.

What We Love: This New England woodland retreat offers its inhabitants a stunning modern home infused with warmth thanks to cedar accents. Surrounded by deciduous trees that provides shelter from the sun, the trees offer a feeling of tranquility through expansive walls of glazing. Overall, the architects did a fabulous job of designing this home to respect its environment.
