This rustic lake house is designed by Sandbox Studio in collaboration with Heslin Construction, located in the private community of Lahontan, in Truckee, California. Lahontan is nestled in scenic Martis Valley and offers spectacular views from cliff tops, wooded hillsides and wide valleys. Designed as a family vacation retreat, this home takes full advantage of its peaceful waterfront setting. The homeowners can enjoy watching wildlife from their open terrace, whether it be sitting comfortably around a built-in fire pit or soaking in the sunken spa.

Almost every room of this 4,800 square foot, four bedroom, four-and-a-half bathroom home features a lake view. Interior living spaces boast three inviting fireplaces — living room, den, master bedroom — each with a unique surround. The living room fireplace features limestone rock brought in from the owner’s home state of Arizona, a nod to their connection. All the finishes within this rustic lake house have been carefully selected to add character and compliment one another.
