Tour the ultimate dream house in beautiful Southern California

traditional-modern-kitchen-dream-house

This family dream house in Southern California designed by Amber Interiors is proof that a sophisticated, stylish home can be conducive to kids. This home was designed for a family of seven: two parents, four young kids, and one Golden Retriever. One of the major goals of this renovation project entailed brightening up the entire home.

To achieve this, the designer preserved the original white oak plank flooring — stripping and refinishing it with a lighter custom stain. To maximize brightness in the interior spaces, the majority of the home was painted in Simply White OC-117 | Benjamin Moore. The result of this transformation is the perfect combination of traditional and cozy, a little upscale farm, country cool and east coast-vibe.

Above: The designer expanded and pushed out the kitchen and old sunroom to add a breakfast nook and living room. With four children, the homeowner wanted to have an open concept to keep tabs on everyone. Existing ceiling beams were removed and replaced with tongue and groove ceilings, elongating the room and creating a more visually appealing space. A large center island features Calacatta marble countertops, the base painted in Wrought Iron 2124-10 | Benjamin Moore. For the perimeter cabinets, the designer selected Revere Pewter HC-172 | Benjamin Moore to add depth and more color.

Could you please tell me where the light fixture is from over the table? Thanks!

Would love to know more about those rugs, but, alas … they’re either one of a kind, or waaay too expensive

This home is the inspiration for my new build! I see that Simply White was selected as the all-over white paint. Do you know what color was used for the trim?

I have been searching for light fixtures like those above the kitchen island. I got excited when I saw this picture but couldn’t find any mention of them on this page. Any idea where these fixtures are from? Thanks. Beautiful house!
