This Greek Revival home, nestled on eight acres of pastoral land in Memphis, Tennessee, was beautifully reimagined by Sean Anderson Design to meet the lifestyle needs of a family of six. Before the renovation, the home was dark and filled with busy patternsโFrench country mingled with hunting lodge style. The interior scheme needed to harmonize with the home’s traditional architecture while being age-appropriate for this young family.
The goal of this forever home was that it needed to be timeless and reflect the owner’s love of art and design throughout the interior by incorporating various aesthetic styles and movements. Inside, you will find many visually appealing elements, including well-scaled rooms, tall ceilings, and exquisite hardware. It just needed to be refreshed with some youthful touches.
The designer was tasked with updating the home’s color palette, a mix of moody, saturated, and subdued balanced with areas filled with natural light.
Throughout this home, you will find collections of Tramp Art, a style of woodworking that emerged in America in the latter half of the 19th century. This style inspired the kitchen design, one of two spaces in this home that underwent a complete overhaul. The designer contracted a local artisan to fabricate cabinetry detail in the tramp-art style.
What We Love: This Greek Revival home was beautifully transformed to meet the lifestyle needs of a busy family of six, featuring the perfect mix of light and dark. The preserved architectural details throughout this home are incredible, from the vanity in the powder room to the fireplaces in the hearth room and the owner’s bedroom. We love the mix of new and vintage furnishings throughout, adding character and charm. The main bathroom is our favorite room in this home, with its copper tub and fabulous fireplace straight from Tuscany!
