Architecture Allure crafted this mountain contemporary family getaway in collaboration with Alice Lane Interior Design in Lake Tahoe, California. Designed for a family of six, the homeowners’ top priority for their 5,500-square-foot home was accommodating overnight guests. Their top request was a large bunk room with eight built-in bunks for their four kids, plus friends and cousins.
The bunk room was built over the garage to keep noise separate from the rest of the house. With family entertaining in mind, the architect designed a floor plan with a central gathering space, a play area/media room, a large kitchen, and two first-level main bedroom suites to support a continual flow of guests.
