On the west side of Grand Rapids, Michigan, a 1970s midcentury modern home has been given a remarkable second life. Interior designer Carly Visser of CVI Design took on the complete renovation of this time-capsule residence, bringing it confidently into the 21st century while honoring the architecture and original character that made it worth saving.
The kitchen was fully transformed, and an owner’s bedroom suite was added through a thoughtful reconfiguration of the floor plan. Vintage furnishings feature clean lines accented with smooth, curved angles, along with pops of darker neutral tones with saturated accent colors, really bringing a mid-century flair to this old home. The result is a renovation that feels both fresh and deeply authentic.
