Designed by Heyward Russell Studio along with Anna Booth Interiors, this elegant stone house is nestled in the rolling countryside of Serenbe, a wellness community connected to nature on the edge of Atlanta, Georgia. The picturesque region drew the couple to this property to build their new house, which needed to be spacious enough to accommodate their growing family and relatives, yet inviting rather than grandiose.
It also needed to have a strong connection to its bucolic setting, so it would appear as if it had always been here. Prior to construction, the project team dreamed up a fictional narrative to guide the design. The story began with an old stone barn that had undergone additions over generations.
To create this aesthetic, the builder employed materials of oak, terracotta tile, and stone, along with earthy hues of Georgia red clay. The house was crafted to be rambling and unpretentious; it settles into the landscape with a quiet presence. Modern elements lend a freshness to the design, including an abundance of steel and glass windows and doors throughout the home.

What We Love About This Home
What captivates us most about this elegant stone home is the way it tells a story: every material choice, from the terracotta tiles to the hand-laid stonework, feels rooted in history. The interiors strike a rare balance between old-world warmth and quiet refinement, with soaring oak-clad ceilings, antique furnishings, and tactile fabrics that make every room feel genuinely lived-in. The outdoor spaces are equally considered, with the Cotswold-inspired pool folly, timber pavilion, and stone walls creating a landscape that feels as though it has been cultivated over generations.

The interior spaces boast an updated, old-world feel, with several exterior materials brought into the interior. As an example, the living room has a luxe, barn-like aesthetic with its soaring ceilings, oak wood beams, and stone walls. To create a warm and inviting feel, the designer infused the room with a mix of furnishings, including tactile fabrics that further enrich the space. She paired high-end antiques with designer furnishings to create a historic yet polished feel.

Outdoor Living Spaces Designed For Entertaining

The outdoor spaces were designed to have a transitional feel with a rustic twist. This includes traditional stone walls and modern cast-concrete pavers. Plantings include black-eyed Susans, hydrangea, and viburnum.

A garden folly was designed in an English Cotswold style, adding architectural charm to the swimming pool area and surrounding outdoor living spaces.
