Cottage at Millhaven is a beautiful cottage style home designed by All About Home Design, located in Cathedral Pines, a community set within the breathtaking Black Forest of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Nestled at the eastern foot of the Rocky Mountains, this dream house is inspired by a family’s cherished memories of cottages along the eastern seaboard, from New Haven to New York.
Despite the sheer size and rather large square footage of 9,945 square feet, you might think there are plenty of large vacant rooms — yet nothing could be further from the truth. Casual elegance is on full display with amazing wood floors, plenty of heavy white woodwork, large beams and painted navy blue walls with white doors and cabinets, all meant to say unfussy in the most sumptuous of ways. At every turn, you will see rooms that work, views that will transport you away and small details that make a big difference. As you turn the corner from one room to another, there are surprises that can only give you cause to pause and take a second look. These surprises, sometimes subtle, sometimes daring, like the full regulation racquetball court or the family barbershop with a vintage red, white and blue barber pole are combined with more conventional areas of the home. This includes the children’s attic room and the guest cottage that is just past the reading area and across the bridge.
Subtle but stylish, overzealous yet warm and inviting, this family home is designed as a place where unforgettable memories will be made and where children and parents will stay connected — a gracious lifestyle of thanksgiving and joy.

Wood plank floors add the cohesive element to an otherwise unbound approach to the design. Blue and green accented with white and shiplap change their hue and tone room-to-room. Brick accent walls and beamed ceilings add a classically inspired counterpoint, and beautiful window treatments and bright bedding create a fresh and airy feel in all the children ‘s rooms.
Color and pattern intermingle in upholstery, pillows, and rugs that all combine to create a very personal aesthetic for the owners of this cottage style home. The unexpected pairing of massive amounts of white trim with navy walls give a modern, yet comfortably eclectic warmth to the great room and that modern trend continues throughout this dwelling.
