A peek into this beautifully designed vineyard farmhouse style home in Texas

Jenkins Custom Homes crafted this stylish vineyard farmhouse-style residence in the gated community of the Peninsula at Rough Hollow in Austin, Texas. This 4,143-square-foot home was built for the Spring Parade of Homes and boasts four bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms. An expansive single-story home with a loft, it capitalizes on the lot’s best feature—its privacy and 1.2-acre size.

The massing combines four sections of the home’s architecture in the center with an all-glass “link,” creating a private courtyard in the front and a private pool area in the back. Knowing that the modern farmhouse style of architecture was gaining popularity, the team decided to design the home with farmhouse appeal and added a vineyard in front to complete the feel.

Wanting the architecture to be experienced, the design team strove to blur the lines between inside and out. The breezeway marks the beginning of that journey via large wooden sliding barn doors opening up into the bright courtyard. Large stackable glass doors and automated screens in the living and dining areas capture the year-round breezes. This home is brimming with rustic charm, but has touches of modernity, creating a perfect balance between old and new.

I’m not a fan of this home. I can’t figure out if I’m in Texas or France. I love whites/beiges but this is overkill. The exterior seems unfinished and “choppy”.

Interesting design house. It seems a little bare on the exterior. Not much softness. Would anyone really want a wine cellar in that space? I love a central area with windows on both sides but it seems a little bit too l o n g! But it would be a fun house to go thru.
