Chioco Design together with Miars Construction has designed this inviting contemporary house for a family of four in the heart of Austin, Texas. The goal for the design of this family home was to open the living environment up to its natural surroundings. The residence is composed of 3,700 feet of living space, with four bedrooms, and three-and-a-half bathrooms.
The design consists of interlocking linear, rectangular forms using local gray Leuders limestone, white integral color stucco, Douglas Fir siding, steel, and glass. The composition, relative to the gently sloping site, creates opportunities to experience outdoor living spaces that are direct extensions of the interior rooms. The interior has an edited palette of materials to include Walnut flooring, vertical grain White Oak paneling and cabinetry, Limestone tile, and steel.
What We Love: This inviting contemporary house in Texas was designed to take advantage of the property’s existing Live Oak trees and sloping lawns. Indoor/outdoor living is emphasized throughout the design, drawing in natural light and nature. The landscape design offers the family several peaceful views from different vantage points throughout the house.
