This inviting beach cottage was designed by Bradley J. Boyer Design in collaboration with New Urban Home Builders, located on the scenic shores of Lake Michigan. An existing 1950s cottage was dark and dated and in need of a major overhaul to function comfortably as the family’s vacation retreat.
To meet the lifestyle needs of its occupants, the architects preserved the garage and tore down the rest of the home. Taking care to stay within the former home’s footprint, the architects create a comfortable and relaxing 3,800 square foot abode. An open floor plan extends the well-appointed kitchen to the back patio, showcasing a spectacular wine cellar and custom fireplace along the way.

Sound-proofed bedrooms offer solitude, and a new game room above the garage is a cozy play space for kids and adults alike. This project was titled “The Aerie” because eagles love it here… They kept a vigil in the backyard trees throughout construction.
What We Love: A dated structure was given a new life, transformed into an inviting beach cottage surrounded by breathtaking scenery. Created with indoor-outdoor living in mind, a large deck promotes spending copious amounts of time outdoors enjoying the natural beauty. We are loving the open and spacious floor plan with its large picture windows bringing in natural light while capturing the views of the water.
