A beautiful Colonial house in Connecticut gets a timeless makeover

colonial-style-home-exterior

Bria Hammel Interiors is responsible for the decorating and styling of this Colonial house nestled along the serene streets of Greenwich, Connecticut. The interiors reflect an overall timeless and traditional feel, with elements of classic east coast homes while integrating coastal details — offering an idyllic balance of formal and playful.

The homeowners are transplants from San Francisco, who brought this project to the designers with almost a blank slate. The square footage was more than they had ever lived in, so they needed new furnishings, accessories, and design. They also needed their home to be functional to meet the lifestyle needs of this family of six.

What We Love: Inside this Colonial house, the newly rejuvenated interiors scheme features a beautiful mix of coastal accents and traditional east coast influences. Light-filled living spaces are comfortable and relaxing for family living with enough space for formal entertaining. We are especially loving how each of the bedrooms is decorated with statement wallcovering to reflect each of the occupant’s personalities.

Tell Us: What design elements in this family home do you find most inspiring and why in the Comments below!

Note: Check out a couple of other fascinating home tours that we have featured here on One Kindesign in the state of Connecticut: Rustic-modern house organically forms into hillside in the Berkshires and Light-filled Connecticut home designed to maximize waterfront views.

Living spaces needed to be causal for this family to enjoy, yet also hold true to the styling of this home with a few formal spaces. For the interior palette, the owners were drawn to blue and neutral hues.

Furnishings were selected with clean lines to give a structured feel to the space while integrating playful elements to soften the space.

This space perfectly captures the timeless aesthetic with its mix of traditional and coastal touches through formal furnishings and pops of blue.
