Hoedemaker Pfeiffer has transformed a cottage into an inviting beach house retreat complete with luxe details, situated along the shoreline of Whidbey Island in the Puget Sound, north of Seattle, Washington. The homeowners of this cottage opted to renovate instead of purchasing a larger new home. They enlisted the architects to help them re-invigorate their retreat, updating living spaces to meet their lifestyle needs.
The owner’s wish was to maintain the charm and modesty of the existing beach cottage. The goal for this structure was to re-imagine it from the ground up, enabling the project team to explore the structure’s strengths while removing any elements that were dated and awkward. A collaborative effort between architect and client produced a stunning new luxury retreat that feels as humble as any Puget Sound beach house should.

What We Love: This cozy beach house retreat offers a brand new interior layout with light-filled living spaces designed to maximize views over the Puget Sound. Designed as an escape, the architects did a fantastic job of creating cozy spaces to relax and unwind. We are especially loving the indoor-outdoor connection and the amazing sunroom that leads out to a sprawling porch, perfect for gathering with family and friends.
Tell Us: What do you think of the renovation of this retreat? Would this cottage be your idea of the ultimate family getaway to escape from work and city life? Please share your thoughts in the Comments below!
