Mountain modern retreat in Sugar Bowl with stunning Scandinavian details

contemporary-rustic-mountain-home-exterior

Architect Mark Becker has designed this rustic mountain retreat blended with Scandinavian modern influences, located in the snowbound ski in/ski out village of Sugar Bowl, California. When constructing their dream home, this family of avid skiers desired their dwelling to feel like a 100-year-old house that had been recently renovated for a modern family lifestyle.

The exterior facade is a traditional Craftsman, featuring reclaimed split-log timbers sourced from Montana. Due to the high snow load in the area, the roof needed to be metal with a steep pitch and generous overhang for easy snow shed. The overall design of this 3,800 square foot, four bedroom, four-and-a-half-bath home reflects a combination of the owner’s style tastes, rustic and modern.
