This contemporary home with a courtyard garden was designed by MW Works Architecture+Design, located in Seattle, Washington. The homeowners desired a residence that was reminiscent of their former property in rural Washington. This new development would distill their way of living yet in a smaller footprint that caters to their design style and hobbies.
Collaborating with the architect, the scope of this project was to create a simple modern structure with a soothing palette constructed on a modest budget. The home would be light and airy yet also provide privacy. Above all, the owners imagined a serene design that merges with the landscape and would create a feeling of tranquility throughout the interiors.

What We Love: This urban dwelling offers its inhabitants a sense of calm thanks to a central courtyard garden. Designed in the form of a U-shape, this home wraps around the garden to merge the interior with the exterior. Sliding glass doors in the main living area invite nature inside and flood the space with natural light. Overall, we are loving the design concept of this home, connecting with nature in the heart of the city.

Note: Be sure to check out a couple of other fabulous home tours that we have featured here on One Kindesign in the state of Washington: Compact wooden shelter captures views over Seattle shoreline and House Tour: Eclectic home in Seattle has a stunning California canyon vibe.
A courtyard in the center of the dwelling brings an abundance of natural light and private outdoor space deeper into the site and serves as an organizational hub. The finished result is a home that is simple yet very intentional and serves as a backdrop to the landscape and the lifestyle of its occupants.
