1. Space Saver Office. This Scandinavian-style home office features a work desk and open shelving. Brackets support long wooden shelves that display personalized decor such as black and white pictures and office supplies for a functional and organized space. 4. IKEA Office Hack. Most of the units are from IKEA, however, it is a custom install. Meaning, pieces were cut to fit the space, shelving was added, an Ikea hack-job. The floating side desks are the Linnmon, but they have been ripped to fit with the Kallax depth. Ikea doesn’t sell this combo anymore. The new Kallax/desk combo has end legs and isn’t as streamlined where the bookcase meets the desktop. 

The two wall desks are table tops that have been cut and mounted using cleats on the back wall. The bases are the Alex, cubes are now changed too, and the shelves to create a literature sorter are custom and not available at IKEA. For the dividers, holes were drilled and cut shelving was sourced from a hardware store and shelf plugs were used. 5. Elegant Home Office. This fabulous-looking yet practical home office features built-ins with lateral files, a window nook, and a coffee bar. This office is on a wireless system — the printer wiring is hidden behind the cabinetry. The notebook runs on a battery, but when it needs charging, there is a floor outlet hidden under the rug that it can be plugged into.

All the cabinetry and wood tops in this project were provided by a local cabinet maker called Sage Cabinetry. Ceilings are 9’6″ and the desk is at 2’6″. The room is 10′ long at the back wall by 12′ along the window wall. 10. Unique Bookshelf Design. The bookshelves were fabricated using salvaged timbers and a 1 1/2″ threaded rod for the vertical metal pieces. The rods and nuts were purchased from an industrial supply, McMaster Carr. Wood was left raw after wire wheeling to clean it up. Walls are painted in Kelly Moore Paint – Weeping Willow KM5155. There are 2 different patterns – 110138 & 110139.

The flooring is a gorgeous Kentwood product called “Boulder” Brushed Oak in 5″wide planks. Rugs are from Pottery Barn. The room dimensions are 15’-7” x 10’-9” and the built-in is 12’-0” x 1’-6”, the desk comes out 6’-0” beyond the built-in.
