Peterssen Keller Architecture has completed this prairie-style home with organic modern design located in Fargo, a city in North Dakota. Modern does not need to be cold and unapproachable, it can be warm, welcoming, and fit within the surrounding neighborhood.
The interior of this U-shaped dwelling blends a range of exquisite materials — stone, walnut, and steel — to create an environment for living that is fresh and perfect for this growing family. Large windows along the rear facade of this home frame captivating views of the scenic woodsy backdrop of native oak, elm, and boxelder trees.

Modern organic elements bring warmth to this multi-gabled home in North Dakota
The exterior facade of this multi-gabled dwelling highlights a combination of materials — white stucco and stone, in addition to dark stained tongue-and-groove cedar siding and a standing-seam metal roof.
The homeowners had the vision of a ranch house and while their design does not reflect a traditional version, it embraces several of the features — including, open entertaining spaces along with all of the bedrooms on the same level.
The backyard of this dwelling flows around a central patio and beautifully manicured lawn. Large expanses of glass are stained in an ebony hue to match the dark cedar siding and black metal roof.
In the kitchen, an expansive island is perfect for cooking, entertaining and casual dining. Custom walnut cabinets are complimented by quartzite countertops. Above the sink, Marvin’s Ultimate Casement windows with divided lites.

At one end of the living area are the kitchen and breakfast nook. Floor-to-ceiling glazing frames the breakfast nook, inviting nature inside.
A room divider composed of steel slats interconnects with a floating custom cabinet. This helps to define the formal dining area while enabling natural light to filter through.
In a corner seating area, Marvin’s Ultimate Awning and Picture windows frame views of the beautiful scenery. Adding to the warmth of the interior living spaces, all of the windows are finished in oil-rubbed bronze hardware and stained to match the walnut cabinets.
The staircase leads down to a fabulous recreation area in the basement.
