This beautiful shingle-style family farmhouse was designed by LDa Architecture & Interiors, located in Sudbury, a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts. The owner of “Sweet Oaks Farm” is a competitive equestrian that is based primarily in South Florida.
Enlisting the architects for this project, the goal was to create a Northern homestead on a family-owned property to which the family and horses would reside for a few months out of the year to escape the heat and enjoy the charms of summer in New England. Project Team: Architect: LDa Architecture & Interiors | Interior Designer: LDa Architecture & Interiors | Builder: Kistler & Knapp Builders, Inc. | Landscape Architect: Lorayne Black Landscape Architect
The vision was to create a classic shingle-style family farmhouse, updated with modern touches and amenities for a highly relaxing, low-maintenance lifestyle, with views from every room out to the pastures, woods, and barn on the property.
Local materials were employed in the design including fieldstone and weathered wood, layered over a neutral white backdrop and balanced with sophisticated lighting, hardware, and tile. The home is bright, comfortable and rooted in the traditions of its New England location.
What We Love: This shingle-style farmhouse features bright and airy living spaces that frame views of the surrounding pastures and forest. We are especially loving the living room, with its large windows, double volume ceiling height, exposed wood beams, and striking floor-to-ceiling stone-clad fireplace.
