Architect Martha Picciotti has collaborated with interiors firm Jette Creative to envision this stunning modern coastal home in Ventura, California. Situated along a canal with its own dock and two boats, the modern home boasts a striking double-story glazed wall, teak ceilings, and exposed steel elements throughout.

The homeowner had a clean and simple vision. A collaborative effort, the project team was able to execute a well-thought-out, open floor plan with an emphasis on the view of the canal. The project team worked together to contrast the sleek architecture with warm materials and utilized much of the homeowner’s collection of art and artifacts passed down over the years or collected on family trips.

All of this made for a sophisticated space full of thoughtful design and treasured memories. Kiesel Design’s landscape was the finishing touch with an exterior complemented by myriad succulents, native plants, a water feature, and a fire pit.

What We Love: This coastal California home features a cool, calm, and collected design. Dark feature walls and ethnic textures add to the overall aesthetic of this two-story property. We are especially loving the expansive floor-to-ceiling windows in the great room, drawing in natural light while framing views of the canal. The landscape architect did a wonderful job of adding the finishing touches to make this home feel inviting.
