European style home in Texas with a mid-century modern twist

european-style-exterior

This European style home was originally built in 1999 by Dalgleish Construction, offering breathtaking views of downtown Austin, Texas. Nestled in the Austin neighborhood ofย Stratford Hills, this beautiful home underwent a complete interior renovation over the course of two years. Working on this project was the builders who originally designed this home, interiors studio Mark Ashby Design, along with Dallas-based architectย Jessica Stewart Lendvay.

After having lived in in the Northeast for over 14 years and relocating to Austin in 2014, the homeowners were inspired by a European mid-century modern aesthetic, yet still acknowledged their love for old world New England style. It was important for the design team to cohesively merge these two styles, from both an architectural and design perspective.

The homeowners were delighted with their newly remodeled home, having glowing words to say. “Working with the people at Mark Ashby Design was joyful and fun from start to finish. They helped us express ourselves; helped us find a context for our home-life that works on every level. They dealt with the blizzard of details so we could focus on big picture. I wish I could buy enough houses to work with them full time.”

I love the fireplace. How was the simple mantel created? Is it wood or stone cast? Or actual stone?

It should be “over the COURSE of two years”, not “over the COARSE of two years”.
