Family home in Colorado inspired by historic Greek Revival farmhouse

Traditional Style Home-Chalet Interiors-01-1 Kindesign

Designed for a family of six by Chalet Interiors this traditional style home is located in the Washington Park neighborhood of Denver, Colorado. The family was already living in the area, but had outgrown the bungalow they were previously residing in. They found an over-sized lot just a few blocks away, where they would construct their new family home. The architect worked with the homeowner to meet their lifestyle needs on the interior layout.

Yet they hit a road block on what to do with the design of the exterior facade. Upon taking a trip to Central Illinois, the homeowner took a photograph of his late grandmother’s 1800’s Italianate / Greek Revival farmhouse. He showed this image to the architect, along with stories of his grandmother, Esther. This was the inspiration for the new facade, with in now known as “Esther”. The facade now looks like it was one of the original homes in this historic neighborhood.

The new design consists of 3,700 square feet of living space, which also includes a finished basement of roughly 2,000 square feet. There are a total of five bedroom, five full bathroom and three half bathrooms. There is also a guest suite in the basement level. The wall paint in the living room is Benjamin Moore’s Ballet White.
