Built in the style of new mountain architecture, this home designed by Ward Young Architects offers a modern twist on the traditional, rustic mountain house. Located in Truckee, California, this was the HGTV Dream Home 2014. Built by Tanamera Construction, the design team employed traditional materials that are found in mountain homes, along with modern and industrial elements.
What We Love: This rustic mountain house features open and airy living spaces that capitalizes on the surrounding rugged mountain views. “To create a building that had the sensibility of the classic Tahoe cabins, we created this great room space that had the dining, kitchen and living areas, all within a form that is reminiscent of that rustic, Tahoe style,” states the architect.
